Ski resorts are no longer abandoned in summer! Great outdoor pools, mountain trails that are graded like ski slopes, stunning scenery, luxury cable cars🚠, fab hotels and food fit for a Queen.
Children are catered for in every aspect of tourism in Austria. In two weeks the children’s buffet only had chips twice! They ate schnitzels, stews, pasta dishes, chicken, steak etc. Most regions offer a summer card giving you free access to cable cars, trains, busses, swimming pools, crazy golf, museums etc within the local area. Your hotel will have it ready for you at check in.
Mountain biking is absolutely huge in this region in summer and if that’s your thing you may want to look at kids clubs too!
There are trails mapped out for kids with stories to follow and treasures to find. Every few minutes they reach a new game, puzzle or activity along the way.
There are lots of accommodation options in the region from self catered apartments to luxury all inclusive resorts. On our most recent trip we stayed in an all inc 4*plus hotel in the town centre of saalbach. The food, drink, facilities, spa, rooms were amazing and there was a kids club but it wasn't as good as others we have experienced.
This type of holiday gives the kids a really different perspective on holidays, nature & culture while giving parents the opportunity to breathe in the most stunning settings and regal mountain views.
Getting there is a little trickier than the standard holiday destinations. We flew to Munich, rented a car and drove 3.5 hrs. You can get there by trains and busses but I personally wouldn't do it with small kids. There are a few changeovers involved. If you want something a little different, it's well worth the effort in getting there.
