I have to pop up a post about this place. I'm not going to lie, we didn't bring the kids as they were too young for such a long day. Left them at the hotel with Granny and Grandad.
I had heard that this was a truly amazing place but I wasn't convinced. A theme park with no rollercoasters?
Having been to Disney, Sea world, Six Flags, Oakwood, Alton Towers, Tayto Park, Efteling and many more I really didn't think I could be amazed by Puy Du Fou but I was so wrong.
This place is so unique. It is designed around shows depicting parts of French history (sounds a bit dull but it's anything but). Every show was incredible. Men on horses emerging from under the water or under the ground. Special effects more advanced than universal studios. Real Gladiator fights in a roman amphitheater. A viking Ship going up in flames. There are 26 shows at the park each lasting 30/40 minutes.
There is a night time show in a separate area of the park called The Cinescenie which you need to book months in advance to get in. It was breathtaking. 1200 actors, amazing special effects, hundreds of horses, about 800 fireworks per performance, headsets in 5 languages.
This park is a must see next time you go to france!! (suitable for kids from about 8).
